With the weather causing the postponement of the two team's Central League fixture scheduled for that evening, the two teams decided to take advantage of the new Field Turf pitch at Colliers Park and play a friendly instead. Strangely enough, the sun shone throughout the 90 minutes, although a howling gale blew from one goalmouth to the other.
Playing against the wind, the visitors took a first half lead through on-loan striker Craig Lindfield. But, battling against the elements, the Dragons fought back in the second half to win out 2-1. Marc Williams grabbed himself a double, finishing both times with low shots into the corner of the net from the edge of the box.
For Wrexham, Sam Aiston and Jeff Whitley played the first 45 minutes, allowing Robbie Garrett and Andy Fleming to appear in the second half. Silvio Spann also returned to action and lasted the full game.
