Match Report

The Dragons completed the ‘double’ over Shrewsbury Town with a convincing 3-0 victory at Colliers Park. “It was a good all-round performance,” revealed Steve Cooper. “We created loads of chances and it was also pleasing to keep a clean sheet. The only disappointment is that despite creating loads of chances we only scored three goals!”

Luke Carding missed the target with the goal at his mercy inside the first couple of minutes, Obi Anoruo had a couple of chances, and Matty Hurdman made a great run into the box but smashed the ball over the bar from eight yards out. So despite all the chances the game remained scoreless at the break.

Surely goals would come in the second half if the Dragons could maintain their level of performance, and so it proved. On the hour mark Carding played the ball into the feet of Jordan Kane who turned, ran at goal, took on and beat a defender, and slotted the ball low to the keeper’s left.

Then ten minutes later Matty Hurdman made it 2-0 with a 20-yard volley that looped over the keeper and just under the crossbar.
Anoruo completed the scoring about ten minutes from time when he smashed the ball in wit his left foot from four yards out after a goalmouth scramble. Jamie Price and Kai Edwards both had chances to extend the Dragons’ lead but it was basically a case of seeing the game out after the third goal.
