A young Wrexham side produced a good performance to record a very impressive victory over a side that finished fifth in the Welsh Premier League last time out. The Dragons took a 28th minute lead when Neil Taylor, fresh from his taste of first-team football, saw his cross turned into his own next by the Nomads left back Wayne Morgan.
After the break Robin Kacaniklic’s incisive through ball gave Jamie Reed the opportunity to get back to scoring ways and the striker delivered by squeezing a left foot shot under the advancing Nomads’ keeper from a tight angle on 52 minutes. It wasn’t long before Nomads hit back through Stuart Cook, but as the minutes ticked down, substitute Mark Stewart grabbed a third for the Dragons, tapping home from close range after fellow substitute Luke Carding outpaced the full back and delivered the perfect ball from the by-line.
