A young Wrexham Reserves side edged their way to a narrow 2-0 victory at Plaskynaston Lane. The Dragons blooded several players with first-team experience, the most notable of whom was Matty Crowell, who started his first game in several months after a lengthy injury lay-off.
There was little to choose between the sides in a fast and furious first half that ended goalless, but substitute Mark Stewart broke the deadlock with a fierce drive from 25 yards on the hour mark and in the closing minutes George Stewart killed the game off.
In his after-match summary Joey Jones said: “Whilst overall I was pleased with the effort from everyone today, we still have room for improvement.”
