Match Report

Wrexham's youth team travelled to Llanellan Road for a hastily arranged friendly with Colwyn Bay following the postponement of the home side's opening league fixture with Bangor City. With the Bay back in the Welsh pyramid after a 35-year absence, this was always going to be a stern test for Dan Nolan's side but the Young Reds battled well and deservedly got to the break on level terms.

The second period saw a flurry of goals with the opener coming on 50 minutes when Alex Downes' header hit the post and went in off the unfortunate Tinkley. Jake Bickerstaff levelled matters six minutes later with a low shot past former Reds' stopper Andy Coughlin. John McReady soon restored the home side's advantage from the penalty spot, after Jamie Nash was penalised, Julian Williams adding a third with a low drive.

Substitute Sam Williams netted from a Kyle Robinson-Murray corner before two goals in the three minutes gave the Bay victory, McReady heading home from a free-kick before Ketley's shot wrong-footed Tinkley.
