Cheshire County League
Saturday, February 12th, 1966
Racecourse Ground
3:00pm kick-off

The match was called off at 10.15 a.m. by local referee T.G. Hewitt with the Racecourse pitch a sea of mud down the middle and a layer of snow on both wings. The early decision ensured the Hyde team did not have to travel.

"In my opinion it's hopeless," explained Hewitt, a qualified F.A. of Wales referee. "There is a mass of mud from goalmouth to goalmouth and many puddles. In a few minutes it would churn into a quagmire and football would be farcical."
