Match Report
Wrexham's Colts registered their first league win of the fledgling season thanks to a brace of goals from both player-coach Ray Wilkins and young inside-right Peter Hencher but they were made to work hard for the points at the Halfway Ground.
The Nomads never recovered from the shock of conceding a goal inside the first five minutes when Hencher netted and it was no surprise when Wilkins doubled the lead a few minutes later. Despite the handicap of losing right-winger France through injury for some 15 minutes, the home side pulled a goal back when a fine pass by Rush set up Hayes to make it 2-1.
Early in the second-half Wilkins made it three before Hayes again reduced the lead with a stunning strike from 20-yards out, the centre-forward capitalising on a fine pass from winger Davies to send an angled shot into the corner of the net.
A minute from time Hencher scored Wrexham's fourth with a low shot that sealed the two points for the visitors.
