Northern Floodlit League Challenge Cup (Fixture not completed)

Crewe Alexandra, having played two home games in the Northern Floodlit League Challenge Cup the previous week before a combined attendance of 129 for gross receipts of £15, were allowed to forfeit their final Gresty Road fixture against Wrexham to avoid incurring a further cash loss.

With Wrexham already having qualified to play off against Barrow in the final, the match would have had no bearing on the outcome of the tournament. The League suggested the cancellation when Crewe pointed out that they had been having difficulty in meeting match expenses.

On Monday last week a fixture against Shrewsbury was watched by 77 spectators who paid £9 for admission. The following night when Barrow ere the visitors there were only 52 spectators and receipts were down by a third on the Monday figure.
