Postponed the day before the game due to international call ups. The programme for the next home match against Huddersfield Town gave the following explanation:

"The club would like to apologise to supporters inconvenienced by the late postponement of our last home game with Bristol Rovers.

As you will be aware we had two players in the Welsh squads for the San Marino games and then, with the weekend call up of Wayne Phillips, we reached the level to allow for a cancellation of our league fixtures.

This application was made to the Football League offices on the Bank Holiday Monday and they agreed to the postponement.

While we appreciate the late notice of this change to our schedule, it seems that our efforts to notify supporters via newspapers, radio, clubcall and teletext were largely successful.

A handful of fans were still unaware of this decision and arrived at the Racecourse, for which we once again apologise.

We have been unhappy about current regulations allowing clubs with international player commitments to call off fixtures and hope progress can be made to alleviate the problem in future.

There are a number of Nationwide clubs in the same predicament as ourselves, but for the present though, we will have to make the best of the rules.

While being unable to predict the future, could we ask supporters to keep an eye on which players are being selected for the Holland game on Saturday, 5th October as we have home fixtures on the previous Tuesday and Friday nights."
