The game was called off at 7:10pm due to heavy fog. The Daily Post reported:

"Coventry referee Kieron Barrattt made a formal pitch inspection at 7 o'clock when the fog was so dense that he could not see the goalposts at either end. He returned to talk with officials and postponed his final decision for ten minutes before declaring there was no chance of playing. He said he had to give it a chance to clear in fairness to the many York supporters who had travelled down."
