The Wrexham secretary received a letter from Ruabon on the day of the game stating that they were unable to raise a side because of the recent bad weather. Given that a sizeable crowd had assembled at the Racecourse, it was decided that the Wrexham First XI should play 18 other members of the club, the First XI winning 9-1.
