Nickname: The Barber's Lads
Previous Names: Rhostyllen Sports Club (1946-1955), Rhostyllen Middle Villa (1989-1991)

Formed by local hairdresser Albert Evans, Rhostyllen Sports Club were more commonly referred to as Albert the Barber's Lads during their early days in the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area). From the outset, club policy was to recruit players from the local area and they played on a variety of local pitches until finding a permanent home on the Vicarage Field courtesy of Colonel Fitzhugh in 1955. That same year the Sports Club side joined forces with Rhostyllen Royal British Legion and changed its name to Rhostyllen Villa.

Whilst success on the pitch often proved elusive, the club can lay claim to having fostered the career of one of the most influential figures in Wrexham's history, Cliff Sear. The softly-spoken full-back played with distinction for Manchester City, Chester and Wales before joining Wrexham as Youth Coach in 1987. Over the next decade he laid the foundations for Wrexham's regeneration in the 1990s by developing a succession of young players for Brian Flynn's first-team.
