Wrexham through to round two after 7-1 win away at Prestatyn Town
The Dragons went to the coast for there first round FAW Welsh Cup game against Prestatyn Town and coasted through to the 2nd round with a good 7-1 win.
However, for the first 15 minutes the reds were on the back foot as Prestatyn took the game to Wrexham with some crisp passing and interchange and would probably felt disappointed not to have taken a suprise lead against the league leaders.
After the scare and some harsh words from the touchline Wrexham began to get there foot on the ball and the midfield 3 of Lyndsey Rodger, Liv Pridding-Hull and Mel Prince started to turn the screw and it was only a matter of time after some good chances that the reds took the lead, with some neat play down the right and a side footed goal from Lyndsey Rodger. The dragons then started to take control of the game and Liv Pridding-Hull doubled the lead 6 minutes later with a neat finish. The chances began to come thick and fast and on 36" Jade Gavan opened her account for the day with a well taken right foot strike into the top corner.
Prestatyn never gave up and scored a deserved goal with a cross come shot on 42" which dipped over Amber Deans head 3-1 half time.
The dragons started much more positively in the second 45" and created some good early openings and it was only a matter of time that leading scorer Lowri Edwards got herself on the score sheet with a good drive passed the excellent Prestatyn goalkeeper.
The reds where comfortable but Prestatyn never gave up and continued to pressure and play good passing football. However Wrexham found themselves 5-1 up on 64" when Steph Taylor turned in from a corner.
The game was up and on 68" confusion in the Prestatyn backline gifted Jade Gavan with her second of the day.
Wrexham created a few more good chances before Lexi Musgrove smashed in a left footed top corner drive on 90".
Prestatyn for all there good play did very well and never gave up making the match an entertaining game.
Dave Taylor was naturally pleased to progress to round two but" hope's that we can eliminate some silly mistakes before we play Llanidloes next weekend".
Wrexham into round two.
