Skipper sent off as reds beaten by the champions

Wrexham's stuttering start to the new campaign continued as they ran out second best to the champions in the capital.

Wrexham started brightly and competed well with the Archers, in a physical encounter and held on for 22 minutes when Sophie Scherschel found the back of the net.

The reds battled hard with Phoebe Davies who was Wrexham's stand out player going closest. In a half of few chances the reds almost gave the game away on the stroke of half time when the hosts were awarded a penalty. However, Del Morgan was equal to the challenge and palmed away the resulting spot kick.

This should have given the reds the impetus to kick on in the second half, howver, it had the opposite desired effect as Wrexham capitulated in the second 45 minutes.

An Early O'Connor strike (48") and an Emily Sargent strike made it 3-0 within the first ten minutes as the reds struggled to get hold of the ball.

Then a moment of madness as Lyndsey Rodger was booked and subsequently sent off for dissent on the hour.

Sargent added her second on 66 minutes and Robyn Pinder rounded an emphatic win for the hosts on 70 minutes.
